Ecosystem services are the many and varied benefits to humans provided by the natural environment and from healthy ecosystems. Such ecosystems include, for example, agroecosystems, forest ecosystems, grassland ecosystems and aquatic ecosystems.

There are four categories of ecosystem services; supporting services; provisioning services; regulating services; and cultural services. Consideration of ecosystem services allows a comprehensive assessment of a project's environmental and social impact. The purpose of this event is to share knowledge and expand on ecosystem services considerations in the EIA processes.
